UPDATE to Proposed ESIT Cuts

We’re encouraged to share that, at this time, neither the House nor Senate budgets include cuts to the Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) program.

This is meaningful news for Spokane families and the many organizations providing these services across WA state.
Over the past few weeks, many of you signed letters, reached out to legislators, shared stories, and helped elevate the importance of early intervention. Thank you – your engagement matters!

We also want to extend a sincere thank you to the Spokane County legislative delegation for the bipartisan support shown throughout this process and for your thoughtful consideration of how these funding decisions impact children and families in our community.

The budget process is not yet complete. The House and Senate must now come together to finalize a budget before the Legislature is scheduled to adjourn on March 12th. We remain hopeful that the final budget will maintain full ESIT funding and continue to reflect a strong commitment to early intervention.

We will continue to keep you informed as the process moves forward.

With gratitude,
The Joya Team

February 11, 2026: We’ve been sharing updates about proposed cuts to Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) and now is the time to act!

HB 2688 would significantly reduce funding for early intervention services that support babies and toddlers in Spokane County with developmental delays and disabilities. These services change lives and strengthen families. We’re circulating a community sign-on letter and we need your support!

Deadline: Thursday at 3PM

Spokane’s youngest children deserve a strong start!
